B Sp Path (Hons), MSPA, CPSP

Jen is a talented and dedicated speech pathologist with a distinguished academic record. During her university degree she completed an Honours Thesis that explored speech pathologists’ reactions to AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) rejection and abandonment as well as how speech pathologists remained family-centred in their services during this time. Jen is a thoughtful, diligent, fun and ethical speech pathologist with a commitment to evidence-based practice. She has a strong clinical interest in the area of stuttering and is a clinical leader in this area at our clinic. As a senior therapist, Jen also provides mentoring and supervision support to our clinicians, speech pathology students and therapy assistants. She enjoys working with children with disabilities and in the early childhood and school-aged fields. Jennifer has worked exclusively at Therapy Matters since graduating.

Jen became a qualified speech pathologist in 2019.

What’s your favourite toy?

“I chose LEGO® because it so versatile in therapy. I can use LEGO® to target so many different goals, from fluency to social skills, speech sounds, following directions and narratives – the ideas are endless!! It’s awesome to share the excitement of LEGO® with kids and make therapy super fun! I particularly love watching their creativity run wild when creating free builds.

I am yet to meet a kid that doesn’t want to play with LEGO® in sessions. I’ve even had some parents want to get involved in the builds too!”

I share my own dragon build as a passionate LEGO® fan with an important disclaimer that LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO Group of companies which does not sponsor, authorize or endorse this site.
