Kate
Speech Pathologist
B Sp Path (Hons)
Kate relocated to the Gold Coast after completing her Speech Pathology degree with honours at James Cook University in Townsville. Kate impressed our team with her distinguished academic record, her aligned values and the diversity of her work experiences before and during her university degree.
Kate’s first career was in the fashion industry but her desire to pursue a career that made a more direct impact on people’s lives led her to rewarding work in the disability sector. This experience sparked her interest in speech pathology and the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life through communication. In this role, she delighted in creating personalised programs that were tailored to the individuals interests and abilities. She also held a position supporting deaf and hard of hearing individuals with life skills which afforded her a unique opportunity to learn Auslan, the language of the Australian Deaf community.
Kate diligently strives to put her client’s interests and strengths at the forefront of her service and weave their goals into activities they find engaging and fun. She particularly loves getting creative (and is Canva pro’s biggest fan!).
Kate’s interest areas lie in the fields of disability, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication and speech although she is excited to embrace as may areas of speech pathology as possible. As a new graduate, Kate is looking forward to sharing her contemporary knowledge with the team and in turn, learning from the wisdom of Therapy Matters experienced clinicians.
Kate became a qualified speech pathologist in 2024.
